Mother of LP age 9I am thrilled to report that L was able to return to school. Thank you for being so willing and able to alleviate her distress. She still has the odd day when she's unwell (M.E. sufferer) but generally, she is able to live a normal life! After such a long illness I never thought it would be possible

Mother of AS age 9Thank you so much for speeding our rising star on her own special path
Mother of GW age 12I know only too well that he was difficult in school. They would persist in trying to force him to learn things according to their rules. Some teachers demeaned him, some were inappropriately lenient. It's no wonder he became so difficult. It's no wonder he refused to attend, he could see absolutely no reason for going. Terrible damage was done. He could easily have ended up on the wrong side of the law. Once he was able to learn using his creative abilities, he just flew. I still can't quite believe he's doing so well. I won't say he loves school all the time, he doesn't. He still finds some lessons hard work but he really shines in some. I won't say he's perfect all the time but he can be when he chooses. He is no longer a victim of circumstances. I thought you might like to know that he has just been 'spotted' by one of Wales' leading rugby clubs!

C H age 13When I was doing the workshops I felt like I achieved something, like a life goal, to read and write properly. I'm doing pretty well. The best thing is the clay
CH's Educational PsychologistI paid a visit to C and his mum today. He has certainly progressed in literacy (in measurable) terms and also in his demeanour. This was great to observe
TH aged 13Before attending the course I had been having special lessons in school to help my dyslexia, they didn't seem to be helping at all. Even after attending the initial meeting with Caroline I felt that this dyslexia course was completely different and would help a lot. After completing the week long course, I felt much better about myself, now after a further three weeks of doing it at home I'm really enjoying it. I feel like it will be a great help in school next week and am really looking forward to putting the techniques I have learnt into practice
Mother of THFor a long time now dyslexia has been a part of our lives as my eldest son M was diagnosed with dyslexia before T. We have persevered with the help in school for him and as T didn't seem to be as badly affected as M let his difficulties slide.
How we came to Dyslexia Wales was through frustration at seeing an enthusiastic bright boy change into one who had lost his zest for life and becoming resigned to gaining middle of the road results when everyone who knows T realises he his capable of much more.
After spending just an hour with Caroline his whole outlook altered, it was as though a cloud had been lifted and T could now see a way forward. This became even more apparent after a full week of working with Caroline and much to our great delight is continuing, T initiates his work times and insists on keeping to the dietary advice he was given. I look forward to his returning to school and feel that the course has enabled him to realise his full potential. Thank you Dyslexia Wales.

RW age 15Thank you for a brilliant time that I am sure will be of great use to me
Mother of RWMy youngest son had a statement of special educational needs following an assessment when he was 7. At upper school his problems increased to the stage where he had a full-time classroom assistant, yet none of the alternative approaches to dyslexia appealed to me. Then I discovered Dyslexia Wales which I immediately felt would give him the help he needed. Rather than tinkering around the edges, I liked the way it goes straight to the root of dyslexia to achieve permanent results in every aspect of a person's life. It transformed my son's life in every way and he has gone on to succeed at school, in his social life, in keeping fit and in his part-time job. He is now looking forward to university, which seemed an impossibility only three years ago. And he found the course the most tremendous fun! It was the best possible investment in his future
RW is has just graduated from university having
served as an officer in the Officers' Training Corps-
HD age 16I found most of them (GCSE's) quite hard, although I felt that doing my words (the post course programme) helped me in a lot of the writing. I also felt more confident about my punctuation and my spelling

Mother of PZAMy daughter had pronounced problems with her dyslexia. She found it difficult to remember certain information, to spell and to concentrate on her school work. She became very stressed and felt very different from all the other children.
Working with Caroline, at Dyslexia Wales, the creativity and the intelligence which she has was finally able to express itself. This was a wonderfully freeing experience for my daughter, allowing her to blossom, to come into her own, to accept herself and to enjoy her talents, rather than see them as difficulties and obstructions to relating to the world as a whole.

Mother of TCT had great difficulty concentrating before he went to Dyslexia Wales. I wondered if it would be the right way forward for him, would he, at 8 years, be able to grasp the concept of this way of learning?
T was taught strategies to focus on task and reduce distractions, to release tension and channel his energy into positive learning.
I would definately recomend these workshops. As a parent the Dyslexia Wales course helps you understand your child's situation, it's very confusing and worrying when the school identifies that they are not achieving, it helps you understand that they think in a special way and it clarifies your understanding of their needs.
T has been taught the tools he needs to progress in the future, I feel these have boosted his confidence, and I hope he uses them effectively when he is in the school environment.
Mother of DLAlthough D had been assessed privately as having severe dyslexia the school failed to give her any support for her literacy difficulties. She changed school and again was given inadequate support. D did not cope emotionally due to her feelings of failure at school. She developed an extreme phobia about reading.
The assessment was very thorough. It was a relief to find out about an alternative way of teaching literacy skills. D was very enthusiastic about working with clay I would definitely recommend the workshops. No other reading system has worked either in school or at home, it is lucky for us to have discovered the workshops. There was a dramatic improvement after just 2 sessions.
I have always been proud of my daughter's creative abilities and the workshops have shown us a way of using this talent for her literacy skills - the perfect solution.

Mother of KWC age 10K's dyslexia was causing concerns at school and difficulties for him generally in reading, writing, organisation, sequencing, time, distractions, etc. These problems make him an anxious individual who is very reluctant to step outside of his comfort zone. K is an imaginative, wonderful and funny little boy… My concerns were that I didn't want this individualism and creativity to be stifled or distorted… (It is a great deal of money to spend if it is ineffectual). The workshops allowed K to be in control and to be self motivated. K said what he most liked was "the modeling, and the lady was really nice" He feels proud of his achievements. He has been really keen to progress and to start work each day. You were incredibly patient, kind and hospitable. Thank you for your support and passion.

CW age 48Dyslexia Wales has changed my life. I had come to a complete standstill, stressed and depressed not knowing what to do. I still have issues to resolve but the difference is I now know how to deal with them. When time allows I plan to take the advanced maths course
PM age 18I was just able to relax - I knew I didn't have to stress - it was just fine
EB age 26I would like to thank you for doing the workshops with me, which I really enjoyed. I feel much more confident. At the end of the week I felt so relaxed and happy
SPR age 22What I realised from my time at Dyslexia Wales is that I am a visual thinker and that although I am not dyslexic by diagnosis I, and probably most other people, display some of the characteristics of dyslexia. I didn't suffer in the academic system until I reached university level where the fact that I couldn't manage my time caught up with me. At school I didn't have to manage my time, the school timetable did it for me. I was able to address my problem with time management with particular success at Dyslexia Wales
I had also hoped to advance the skills which I use when cycling. In particular the use of the focus point to accurately determine distances, speeds and angles; and the ability to read fast changing situations in a controlled and relaxed manner. Having completed the course I have significantly improved all of these
During my course I also stumbled upon a far greater problem which I had no idea existed. I knew what my ambitions were and I was aware of my current situation, but had become completely blind as to how I was going to attain my ambitions. By modelling one simple word I was able to unlock this problem and see a clear way of reaching my goals. It was not far short of a revelation!
The beauty of Dyslexia Wales facilitating is you are the only person limiting how much you can make of it!

SPS aged 32I hope you have changed other's lives as you have changed mine
MB age 38I'm writing to thank you for all the time you spent with me in December. I am very interested in doing some training and helping people with dyslexia which will encompass this thinking
MT age 46There is quite a change in my life and I include your wonderful teaching as part of the reasons for it
WH retiredIt's been a few months you saw me, and from that day on my life has improved so much.
Mother of PMBoth my children are visual thinkers. My son has been reasonably successful in the public school education system but at a great emotional and intellectual cost to himself and emotional cost to us, as parents. He was diagnosed aged eleven, as dyslexic but never had severe enough spelling and learning difficulties for him to be given extra help at school.
Finding Dyslexia Wales was amazing, because finally all these issues were totally turned around. Instead of seeing all these characteristics which my children showed as negative, they now became positive and exciting. They were actually pointers to a wonderful, creative, amazing ability which was systematically corrupted at school and crudely pushed into narrow, linear learning.
Caroline made both children feel unique and important; she was there to listen and to help without imposing herself in any way. She facilitates without controlling. The children were able to make their own discoveries at their own pace.
